Ten healed. One returned.

Jesus was walking the border road between Samaria and Galilee when ten lepers called out from a distance. They had one request: “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

He healed them all. But only one came back to say thank you — and he was the Samaritan, the outsider. The nine walked on.

“Were there none found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?”

The Ten Lepers

Luke 17:11–19 · WEB

11 As he was on his way to Jerusalem, he was passing along the borders of Samaria and Galilee.

12 As he entered into a certain village, ten men who were lepers met him, who stood at a distance.

13 They lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

14 When he saw them, he said, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” As they went, they were cleansed.

15 One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16 and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving thanks to him. This man was a Samaritan.

17 Jesus answered, “Weren’t the ten cleansed? But where are the nine?

18 Were there none found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?”

19 Then he said to him, “Get up, and go your way. Your faith has healed you.”

What fires together, wires together.

Gratitude lights up the same reward circuits as a habit-forming dose of dopamine and serotonin. Practiced daily, the pathway grows — thankfulness actually gets easier the more you walk it.

Complaining digs the other trench deeper. Same brain, same twenty-four hours, opposite direction.

Two seeds, one field.

Gratitude and complaining can’t grow in the same soil at the same time. The one you water is the one that rises.

“I will feed the seed I want to grow.”

Sort the Harvest

Read each seed. Does it feed gratitude — or starve it?

“Thank you, God, for this day.”Feeds
“I never get what I want.”Starves
“Look, the sun is up.”Feeds
“This is the worst week ever.”Starves
